Lego design Challenge

    This year we participated in the heritage council Lego competition.

For the competition you needed to build a historic landmark in our locality.

You also needed to  right a paragraph of what you think was historic about the landmark or a  animal native to  Ireland .                                                                                                                   

   There were 3 categories for the competition 5-7  6-9 and 10-12.

 If you won  your Lego build would be sent to the  Medieval Museum in  Kilkenny. 

Here are some of our entries.

Anna did the beacon in Baltimore 


            
                           

Lauren did  Trailispeen  a local  beach near or school.


Michael did the Whiddy Island  naval base in Bantry.

                                                          


 Roisín did the Kilcoe Castle a very famous castle owned by Jeremy Irons.                                                    


 James did the Irish Hare a native rabbit to Ireland 


Jacob did Gougane Barra Oratory in County Cork.     


     Hannah did the Twelve Arch Bridge in Ballydehob


Sam did the Fasnet Lighthouse

Patrick Did Kilcoe Church. This church is right beside or school.

After a few weeks of waiting we received news that Sam had came runner up in his age category. His model was sent  to  Medieval Museum in county  Kilkenny and was put on display. A few weeks later his model came back and some got a Lego building book and a letter congratulating him on his model.Well done Sam.

Baking

Our School Baking Throughout the year we baked nice treats. We started by baking RiceKrispie buns. We made are chocolate ricekrispie buns by melting a big bar of chocolate and getting a box of ricekrispies and adding them in with chocolate .Then we mixed them together and put them in bun cases then we put the chocolate ricekrispie buns and put them in the cases .Then we stuck them in the fridge to let them set. Here we made french Nuttela toast.We got white bread. Then we spread Nuttela all over it then we rolled them up fried them in the pan and then once they were fried we took them out and got sugar to sprinkle it all over them then we got cinamon and sprinkled it all over it we really enjoyed baking that day. Planting and growing

Planting and growing In spring it was time to start planting. The first thing we planted was potatoes and strawberries.. A week later we planted carrots, chives, turnips and lettuce. We look after our plants by keeping them in the sunlight and water them regularly.

Science Day

We held a science experiment day in our school hall.  Everyone gathered together to share ideas and try out the different experiments.  It was a great success.  We tried making sounds with these metal prongs by banging the metal prongs off a table. And then once we put it up to our ear it made a sound. But when you banged it against different things it made different sound affects. In this station you could use the suction cups to lift the table or anything . Here are the metal prongs and if you banged it of this piece of wood it would make a really loud sound affect after putting it up to your ear. In this station your could wet your finger with water and then rub your finger around the rim of the glass to make sound affects it was really fun.                    In this station it shows you the different magnets to lift up different types of screws.
